Sunday Mornings
Sunday School
Join us each Sunday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
We offer fun and interactive classes for ages three through fifth grade.
Godly Play - for threes, fours, and fives
This imagination-driven class always begins with the question, "I Wonder". Each Bible story or parable is taught through play, as children and teachers alike tell the story with simple wooden figures and backdrops. Crafts and music are also woven into the learning experience. Godly Play meets in Room 120 of Sheppard Hall.
Faith Journey - first through fifth grades
Faith Journey is a learning adventure focused on the "multiple intelligences" of each child. We explore each monthly theme by visiting a different class each week: Creation Station (art), Galilee Games (games), Pamphylia Playhouse (movies), Tabernacle Tales (storytelling), and Sabbath Science (science). Each grade-level class has an adult "shepherd" who accompanies them to their various destinations. Individual classes are taught by adults who volunteer on a monthly basis for the subject of their choice.
Faith Journey begins at 9:30 in "The Attic", located on the Great Hall stage. After a brief gathering time which includes singing and a "sneak peek" at the story, we depart for our classes, which meet in various rooms in Sheppard Hall.
Nursery Friends
Our nursery is open each Sunday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. We provide a staff of professional care givers for infants, little walkers, big walkers, and two's. Our three-year-olds enjoy being part of Godly Play during Sunday School from 9:30 to 10:30; and our member volunteers arrive at 10:45 to provide care for this age group during 11:00 a.m. worship.
Faithful Friends
Faithful Friends is a worship-preparation class for children who are almost ready to begin sitting with their families during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Typically, these are four and five-year-olds.
These children begin worship in the sanctuary with their family. After "Tell Us Our Story" (or on Communion Sundays, the Gloria Patri), our Faithful Friends are delivered to Room 119. Parents may pick them up immediately after the service.
Faithful Friends learn about the traditions of worshipunlocking the mysteries of "why do we do that?". They will learn how to follow the bulletin, as well as become familiar with the Lord's Prayer, The Apostle's Creed, the Doxology, the Gloria Patri, and more. They will also enjoy a Bible message, accompanied by a craft, game, or other activity.
Faithful Friends is taught by parent volunteers.
