MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW
Plan now to attend the upcoming OWLS Events shown below. We hope you will see the opportunity to meet some new friends, learn something new, and have a good time while doing it.
Thursday, January 21; Brunch at 9:30 am.
Dr. Bob Bulloch, our very own (for a little while longer) Senior Minister, resident scholar, and intrepid OWLS supporter, will talk on "The Spiritual Awakening of Confederate Soldiers During the Civil War." Enjoy good food, learn a lot, meet some new people, and still have the whole afternoon to shop, nap, or get into mischief. Sign up for this one real soon, either on the bulletin board or by calling Sally or Lolly.
Thursday, February 18; lunch at 11:30.
After-lunch entertainment will be provided by the "Cobb County Kickers," a senior dance goru pserving as ambassadors of fitness an dfun from the Cobb County YMCA. Lunch is just $6 and we have managed to retain your favorite chef. Some additional February dates of special interest to OWLS:
-
Alzheimer's Seminar, 7-9 pm on February 9, sponsored by Stephen Ministry
-
Estate Planning Seminar at noon on February 25, sponsored by the Endowment Committee
-
The OWLS' annual serving of dinner at the Druid Hills Men's Shelter on February 28.
Thursday, March 18; lunch at 11:30
Tamera Carrera, Executive Director of the Community Action Center for Dunwoody/Sandy Springs, will provide an overview of the center's work in meeting current community needs. The CAC, founded in 1987, is a human services agency supported by St. Luke's and 25 other churches in our area. OWLS' fellow Jerry Smith serves on the Advisory Board.
Thursday, April 15; Come Meet Jason & Kristy Whitner
Jason & Kristy Whitener have agreed to meet with our group! This will give us an opportunity to get to know them better as they share their story and talents. You don't want to miss this up close and personal time with them. We will reschedule our 'Young at Heart' movie date to later in the year.
Tuesday, May 25; Road Trip - carpool departure time to be announced.
We will enjoy a docent-led walking tour of the Oakland Cemetery, a showplace of sculpture and architecture, as well as a botanical preserve. The cemetery was founded in 1850 and is the final resting place for many Atlanta notables. Lunch will be across the street at the Six Feet Under Pub and Fishhouse.
Sunday, June 14; Lunch at Mimi's at 12:30.
Our third annual end-of-year program, start-of-summer-break lunch after the 11:00 service will be at Mimi's at Perimeter. Just great food, fellowship, and fun!
As always, a big part of our getting together is catching up and getting to know one another better, so your being part of the group only makes it more enjoyable. We hope to see you at all of these interesting and fun events.
