Mission Statement
The Preschool & Kindergarten at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church is dedicated to nurturing the whole child through age and developmentally appropriate experiences and activities. In serving the congregation and the community, we seek to provide a Christian atmosphere of loving acceptance wherein each child can grow socially, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. We believe each child is a child of God and, therefore, has a right to develop to his or her fullest potential. A positive self-image is a firm foundation for a happy and successful child, and our primary goal is to develop this in each child.

About our program…

St. Luke's Presbyterian Church welcomes your child to our weekday program where we have been providing a warm and affectionate learning environment for over ten years.  We are dedicated to nurturing the whole child through age and developmentally appropriate experiences.  Our Preschool Program serves children from the age of 12 months through Pre-Kindergarten. We incorporate a center-based approach to learning in each classroom where our Little Saints enjoy structured activities as well as free choice time.  On June 23, 2009, St. Luke's Little Saints Preschool earned accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in recognition of our commitment to quality education and the success of each of our children.  SLLS is a  member of Georgia Preschool Association, GAYC (Georgia Association of Young Children), North Georgia Preschool Association, Metro Atlanta Preschool Directors' Group, and Preschool Directors' Network.

Our Kindergarten Program fills a need for families who wish to educate their child in a smaller, Christian environment.  We specialize in meeting each child at his or her individual level and supporting them in their journey of growth and learning.  With children's interests and ideas at the heart of our program, we provide a curriculum that engages our students in hands-on activities which promote literacy development, mathematical understanding and a curiosity about the world around them.  While nurturing and embracing the playful spirit of young children, we begin to lay the foundation for future academic success.

Daily Enrichment Opportunities

Music with Miss Mary:
Children of all ages are invited to sing songs, dance to music, begin to play with instruments, and practice for school-wide performances.  Through singing, playing, moving & listening, Miss Mary uses music to stimulate children's thinking, decision making and creativity.

Science with Miss Jolyn:
We are proud of our Science Lab which features animals ranging from mollusks to mammals.  The Lab provides an opportunity for Little Saints to develop their own answers to questions about the world around them through guided, hands-on experiments.

Chapel:
Weekly Chapel, led by our wonderful St. Luke's ministers and others, teaches a Bible story or a values lesson to Threes and older.   Children are encouraged to participate, share their thoughts and ideas,  and to ask questions about Bible stories or the daily lesson.  Our BKOC ("big kids on campus," the kindergartners) serve as acolytes.

 Playground Time
SLLS provides our children two age-appropriate playgrounds.  Our smaller playground accommodates our children from the age of 12 months through their time in the 2 year old class.  It includes bucket swings, a slide, push toys and a playhouse.  Our larger playground, The Ark, accommodates children from the age of 3 & up.  We play outside every day except in inclement weather, when we play basketball and other fun indoor games in our gymnasium.

Additional After-school Opportunities include:

Lunch Bunch:  Lunch Bunch is meets three afternoons a week (Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday).  Lunch Bunch is available for children in the 3's, Pre-K & Kindergarten.  For a charge of $6 daily, children may bring a lunch from home and enjoy eating & playing with their friends until 1:15pm.

Enrichment Class:  We offer a choice of three enrichment programs for Pre-K on Thursdays: Start with Art!; SportsFun; and What's Cooking?  SportsFun is also available on Thursdays for children in the three-year-old classes.  There is an additional fee for enrichment programs.

Spanish:  Spanish classes are offered once a week on Wednesdays for Pre-K and Kindergarten.  The purpose of this class is to introduce or augment Spanish skills by teaching children basics including greetings, counting, colors, shapes & action verbs.  Learn Spanish while having fun!

School-Wide Activities & Events

The St. Luke's Little Saints Family hosts two annual events.  The first, held in the fall, is a fun-filled Spaghetti Dinner for families known as "Oodles of Noodles".  The Great Hall is alive with activity as we enjoy supper together.  The children especially enjoy the after-dinner entertainment… this past year, we had a local band playing music on the stage, with happy children dancing below!  In the Spring, we host a Pancake Dinner (yes, you read that right… pancakes for dinner!).  Our most recent theme was "Pancakes and Pirates", with a pirate magician stealing the show  after dinner!

SLLS holds two annual fundraisers.  In November of each year we enjoy the "Holiday Shopping Spree", a market with over 40 vendors from around the southeast present to help the community get a "jingle jump-start on their holiday shopping".  In February of each year the school hosts the Scholastic Book Fair, which is a fantastic opportunity to buy books for children & adults alike, while also raising funds for the school.
